Victoria Govt renames Berwick Spring Lake after first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Melbourne November 10:- The Sikh community in Melbourne, achieved a social milestone when the Labor State administration re-named the Berwick Spring Lake after the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji. The renaming event was organised in the morning on November 9, 2024 by Victoria Sikh Gurdwaras Council and Sikh Interfaith Council of Victoria in Collaboration with Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The announcement was made by Victoria Minister for Multicultural Affairs Hon. Ingrid Stitt and Minister for Planning and Suburbs Sonya Kilkenny reflecting the contributions of the Sikh community and the enduring legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The entire Sikh Community of Victoria and Australia expressed gratitude towards Premier Jacinta Allan, Minister for Multicultural Affairs the Hon. Ingrid Stitt and Minister for Planning and Suburbs the Hon. Sonya Kilkenny for recognising the invaluable contributions of the Sikh Community and honouring the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Victoria Sikh Gurdwaras Council media release said this is commendable gesture of the government for recognising and supporting our diverse communities.

Members of Victorian Sikh Gurdwaras Council (VSGC) thanked the Sangat for attending the event. The event coincides with 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
