DRDO PRESS RELEASE
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will participate in International Land Defence Exposition “Land Forces – 2024” being held during 11-13 Sep 2024 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Victoria, Australia. The biennial exhibition is fully supported by the Australian Department of Defence, Australian Defence Forces & State and Federal Government. The mega expo features over 800 of the leading defence and security companies from around the world, showcasing the latest military technology, equipment and systems across the land, sea and air.
DRDO is the R&D wing of the India’s Ministry of Defence, primarily engaged in design and development of state-of-the-art systems and technologies for realising the goals of ‘Make in India and Make for the World’. DRDO has emerged as a strong Defence R&D hub with proven competence to develop wide range of defence technologies like Missiles and missile-based Air Defence System, Light Combat Aircraft, Main Battle Tanks, Gun System, UAVs and Counter UAVs, Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher, Radars, Naval Systems and Life Science related products. Many indigenously developed DRDO systems have been inducted into the Indian Armed Forces, after extensive field evaluation. These DRDO systems attain benchmark of international standards and, therefore are of interest to several nations some of whom have imported already . DRDO has made Indian industry capable to produce quality defence systems for export, which help in establishing and nurturing a long term relationships with friendly countries by strengthening their Defence Forces and Homeland Security.
In ‘Land Forces 2024’ exposition, DRDO is going to showcase the following flagship products in form of posters/translite/models.
Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM): The QRSAM is all-weather air-defence system that provides mobile air defence cover to mechanised assets of Army in the Tactical Battle Area.
Akash Weapon System: AKASH is a short range surface to air missile system to protect vulnerable areas and vulnerable points from air attacks. AKASH Weapon System can simultaneously engage Multiple Targets in Group Mode or Autonomous Mode. It has built in Electronic Counter-Counter Measures (ECCM) features.
Torpedo Advanced Light (TAL): TAL is an anti submarine weapon, which can attack submarines in shallow waters and deep waters. It is electrically propelled self-homing torpedo and can be launched from ship and rotary wing aircraft.
Low Frequency Dunking Sonar System LFDS-X : Low Frequency Dunking Sonar (LFDS) is an integrated airborne sonar system for anti submarine warfare which can be deployed from rotary wing platforms. It enables the deployment of sensors to deeper depths for detection of deep dived submarines, thereby substantially enhancing performance. LFDS is capable of both active as well as passive sonar operations.
Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF): The system is compact, lightweight using state-of-the-art technology and can be used for ground/ surface as well as airborne application.
Combat Free Fall System: CFF parachute system provides total solutions to Paratrooper for jumping from height as high as 30,000 ft., can glide up to 30 km range and can land at the desired target. System can be used in High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) as well as in High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) modes.
Arjun MBT Mk 1A: The Main Battle Tank Arjun MK-1A manifests the latest battle tank technologies, that make it a distinct front runner amongst the array of contemporary Main Battle Tanks of modern armies in the world to meet the requirement of 21st century battle field. Built with modern battle tank technologies, Arjun MK-1A is a dependable war machine with superior fire power, high mobility, excellent protection and accomodates four men crew.
Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS): ATAGS is a large caliber gun system with the capability to program and fire long range guided munitions to achieve precision and deep strike. The system is configured with all electric drive to ensure maintenance free and reliable operation over a longer period of time. ATAGS has a firing range of 48 Kms with advanced features in terms of high mobility, quick deployability, auxiliary power mode, advanced communication system, automatic command and control system with night firing capability in direct fire mode.
