Sisodia lost from Jangpura to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by a narrow margin of 675 votes. Conceding defeat, he said he hopes the winning candidate (Tarvinder Singh Marwah) works for the constituency. Kailash Gahlot, who left AAP to join BJP months ahead of the polls, won from Bijwasan assembly constituency. He defeated AAP’s Surender Bhardwaj with a comfortable margin. The top leadership of Aam Aadmi Party, including former chief minister and party Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and the former Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had to bite the dust in the Election to the Delhi Assembly hither to ruled by AAP. All the AAP stalwarts suffered the same fate leave alone Delhi Chief Minister Atiishi Marlena nee Singh who secured victory by a very thin margin.
No policies but anti-incumbency played a major role in the debacle. With this dramatic loss in its first citadel, party convener Arvind Kejriwal, who was once discussed in the power corridors as a potential Prime Ministerial candidate, is expected to have a tough time while bargaining for its share with the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc partners.
The AAP sent the nation into a frenzy in 2015 as it wiped out the saffron party and also the grand old party, which had ruled over Delhi 15 years in a row. It never looked back for 12 years until the liquor scam and imprisonment of Kejriwal turned the events the BJP way. Kejriwal – now shorn of his muffler, ballpoint pen, and once-signature cough – crashed to the worst defeat of his political career.
What blinded the Delhi voters? BJP has no plan or policy, no leadership just M who relies on hatred, division. In fact, it is no body’s Delhi. No one has paid attention to the mountains of garbage. No capital in the world is not built near river or sea. Here we have a capital city built in mountain of waste, the air is polluted. There is no hospital built for over 40 years, no new school set up for many years. Even the voters have turned a blind eye to these facts.
The onus now lies on BJP to give the voters a clean city. BJP has all the paraphernalia, strong work force and resources. Let’s see what they can do
