(The IST News) The Maharashtra election results have ended with the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance achieving a landslide victory. As per the data from the Election Commission of India, in the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP alone won a staggering 132 seats. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena bagged 57 and Ajit Pawar’s NCP secured 41.
The other parties that back NDA, Jan Surajya Shakti won 2, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSPS) bagged 1, Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RYSP) 1 and Rajarshi Shahu Vikas Aghadi (RSVA) secured 1.
The 288-member Maharashtra assembly went to polls in a single phase on Wednesday, November 20. The overall voter turnout stood at 66.05 per cent, higher than the 2019 tally of 61 per cent, data from the Election Commission of India said.
The electoral battle in the state was a head-on battle between the Mahayuti, comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, and NCP (Ajit Pawar) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (Sharad Pawar).The Youtubers allege that the Election Commission of India announced the voting percentage as 58.1 but at the time of counting it rose to 66.05.
It was also alleged by a village in Nanded that it voted for congress enbloc but the result showed no seat for that party. Even the contestant alleged that he and his family members voted for him but the tally was zero.
Campaigning for the elections was a full house show across Maharashtra, with the NDA and INDIA bloc groups hitting out at each other at every nook and corner.
Notably, this was the first Assembly election in Maharashtra since the split in both Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party.
